Our Wedding Dance Programmes
Your wedding day is important to you and we want to help you make it even more special. Our wedding dance programme is customised to your needs and gives you the confidence and skill to perform a variety of dances. When that magical first dance arrives, your friends and family will be amazed by your elegance, style, and grace.
Our qualified instructors can help you learn a few basic steps or choreograph the whole dance for you, in a very short space of time. We can choreograph a dance for the happy couple only, or for the entire bridal party: the parents of the bride and groom, other family members and even your wedding guests. It’s your choice!
If you have a special song, we will work with you on simple, yet elegant choreography that will make your first dance as special as your big day.
Do not leave this important part of your wedding to chance, and use your first dance as a wonderful way to begin your new life. You will also have the gift of dance to share for the rest of your lives.
Dancing is not only about learning steps and dancing them to music. It’s also a perfect combination of physical activity, social interaction, and mental stimulation. Dancing enhances your life in so many ways:
Learning to Dance
When you choose a Fred Astaire Dance Studio, you will see that learning to dance is simple and fun! From your very first lesson, you will be taught the basic step patterns that form the basis of social dancing, and from there, the sky’s the limit!
You can choose to focus on certain dances, or learn all of them, starting with the basic steps and progressing to many different variations in each dance.
Our proven teaching methods ensure that you will walk into your local Fred Astaire Dance Studio and dance out!
Our proven teaching methods involve a three-tiered approach, where you will learn to dance through regularly scheduled private lessons with an instructor, as well as group lessons and practice lessons.
1. Private Lessons
You will have regular private instruction with one or more teachers who give you specialised and personalised attention through the process of learning to dance. This one-on-one instruction allows you to progress at your own pace and look and feel great on the dance floor, while developing the ability to lead or follow any partner.
2. Group Lessons
Through regular group lessons, you will learn additional patterns, style and technique. Group lessons also give you the opportunity to meet other students with similar dancing goals and dance with new partners.
3. Practice Lessons
As the name suggests, practice lessons allow you to practice what you have learnt in your private and group lessons. Making what you have learnt work in a live setting with different people is the aim of learning to dance, and the practice sessions allow you to do this. Teachers can also assess your progress while at practice sessions and tailor your private lessons to your on-going needs
All our dance instructors are highly trained and skilled, not only as dancers, but also as educators. Our teachers are continually training to improve themselves and their ability to teach dance. Our teachers are required to pass rigorous exams given by the Fred Astaire Curriculum certification, ensuring that they are qualified to teach our students
Our Trophy System
The Fred Astaire Trophy System is an easy way to track your progress while learning to dance! Beginner students are taught using the Social and Advanced Foundation Programmes, which teach the basic step patterns and techniques that allow you to move comfortably on the dance floor with any partner. From there, a student can progress through the Bronze and Silver levels – all the way to the Gold level!
Our dance curriculum covers the full range of Ballroom, Latin-American, and International Style dances, including Exhibition and Theatre Arts dances. Our curriculum is constantly reviewed by our world famous dance champions and registered judges on the Fred Astaire National Dance Board, to make sure that only the finest, up-to-date programmes are being offered to our students.
